Plan your program

Most international students require an entrance document to enter and study in Canada — either a visa (TRV) or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) for shorter programs — or a study permit for programs of study over 6 months.

The Government of Canada requires that all new study permit applicants need a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) from the province in which they intend to study. The English Language Program will secure PALs for students who register in three or more consecutive PAL-eligible programs (minimum 30 weeks of classes).  PAL eligible programs include ESL 100, ESL 101, EAP 200 and have dedicated sections for students requiring PALs. Application fees and full program tuition must be received at the time of registration.  Registration will not be accepted later than four months before the program of study begins. Registration in PAL eligible programs is only required for the first year of study.

Check with your nearest Canadian Embassy or Consulate for more information on applying for entrance documents and study permits.
